Miss Kotzur's Third Grade Leaders

 Welcome to Third Grade!

Hello! My name is Karen Kotzur and I will be your child's Third grade Reading and Social Studies teacher this 2015-2016 school year. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at Sun Valley! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year,  which surely promises to bring with it, many new experiences and challenges. In order to make the year a successful one, team work and cooperation will be required by all. As your son or daughter’s teacher, it is my goal to help him/her become a confident learner and I will do my best to help make this year a positive experience for your child.

Our Third grade conference time is from 12:05pm-12:50pm daily. If my conference time is not convenient, I can meet with you before or after school. I can also schedule a telephone conference time if you wish. If you need to contact me you may call the school at 210.645.7570 or send me an email at kkotzur@swisd.net.

 About Me!

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher!  This coming school year will be my 16th year of teaching here at Sun Valley!  I was a Kinder teacher for 14 years until last school year when I was I asked by our former principal,  Mrs. Verstuyft to move to Third. Honestly, I had mixed feelings, because I have been a Kinder teacher for 14 years!  After thinking about this great opportunity, I knew I had to take this new adventure in my career! This will be my second year as a Third grade teacher and  I am extremely excited to be working with a great team of teachers and amazing students!  I am looking forward to the many wonderful memories and accomplishments!

Here is a little personal information about me!   I graduated from Texas A&M-Kingsville (GO Hoggies!) with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Reading.  I am originally from McCook, Texas, a little farming community in the Rio Grande Valley.  If you aren't familiar with Texas, the Rio Grande Valley is located along the southern border of Texas.   I am the youngest of four and the only girl of the family!  When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends.
